Newly crowned Miss Black Africa UK, Miss Susana Owono was at the weekend a special guest at the Official Independence celebration of Equatorial Guinea hosted by Her Excellency, Ambassador Mrs Mari-Cruz Evuna Andeme (High Commissioner to the UK).
She was also honoured to join hands with the Ambassador as the colossal cake to mark the country’s Independence was cut.
Equatorial Guinea gained independence from Spain in 1968, and the discovery of massive oil reserves in the mid-1990s means that the country is now one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
The Republic of Equatorial Guinea is known for its lush forests, tropical beaches and diverse wildlife.
Susana plans to advocate for child literacy and is in the process of setting up a book club in Africa.
